This is a lovely 1 1/2 storey three bed holiday house, in a quiet cul-de-sac. The house is an end terrace,built in the late 1990's, and has had no modifications to date. To the rear there is an enclosed garden, which is bounded by fields and has views of the sea in the distance.
The brief was to provide a garden room extension to allow better connection with the outside, and the sea views. As the site faces north east, the rear of the house is in the shade for most of the day, only receiving direct sun in the early morning.
The concept design shows a three metre extension to the existing kitchen diner, to provide an open plan kitchen diner and garden room to the rear of the house. Access to a new patio will be via full height bi-fold/sliding doors to open up the whole space. To maximise the amount of natural light the glazing wraps round the corner on to the south eastern elevation to catch some more of the morning light.
To match the existing property, the extension will be rendered in a through-colour, self-cleaning silicone render in white.
As the scheme progresses, options will be explored regarding the possibility of having a column free corner, and also whether or not a roof lantern will be included.
